Welcome to Swedent Dental Clinic!
How it started
In 1986, the Swedish Dental Association made an agreement with the Ministry of Health in The Gambia to assist with an Oral Health program in the eastern part of the country. A clinic was built at Bansang Hospital, and two Swedish dentists were employed as volunteers: one working with emergency care, food, and health information, and the other trekking to villages in the area with the same mission. Lars-Göran Wärn was one of the dentists, and I worked there for around 3 years. During that time, I realized there was a huge need for dental care, health, and nutrition information/instructions. So, I asked the government for a permit to register and set up a private clinic. I had also met my fantastic wife in The Gambia.
